BIOARCH’S UNNEGOTIABLE PRINCIPLES

Biophilic Design

Nature is a foundation. It isn’t an add-on.
Our design process integrates natural elements, patterns and flows into the spaces we create, reconnecting its inhabitants with the living world. From natural light and ventilation, to views and selected plants, every decision is made to promote wellbeing through a deeper relationship with nature.

Bio-Based Building Materials

Wood, lime, cork and other bio-based resources.
We prioritise natural low-impact materials, that are kind to the human body and to the planet. Furthermore, we select materials not just for their performance and aesthetics, but for their indoor health benefits. We advocate for the precautionary principle (if you don’t know what’s on it, don’t use it!)

Indoor Air Quality

We consciously avoid toxic substances and volatile organic compounds (VOC).
Our construction systems promote natural ventilation, regulate humidity and reduce indoor pollutants. We carefully select the materials that are in direct content with indoor surfaces. Our aim is to create spaces that are as healthy to breath as they are to inhabit.

Passive & Smart Building

Through passive strategies such as solar orientation, cross ventilation, thermal mass or green roofs, we reduce energy consumption and increase comfort.
We design electrical networks that minimize exposure to electromagnetic fields and, whenever it makes sense, we integrate cutting-edge technology — with discretion and in the service of well-being.
