Our journey begins with a conversation. We visit the site and take time to deeply understand how the client lives — not just what they want, but who they are.

This phase is about building trust, empathy and alignment, before anything is drawn.

This is where we translate everything we've learned into a first architectural vision. This is not just a concept — it’s a sensitive interpretation of the client’s identity, the site’s character and the project’s potential.

Simão Carvalho

Simão is a human being in constant evolution. Father of 3 (wonderful) children, he channels creativity and aware knowledge.

Designer and creator of spaces, technologies and objects that ease and simplify our way of being.

Connected to the essence of people and places, he gives them the form and matter that respond to their real needs. Member and guide of a team of people who, together, bring creative and practical processes to life so that a new reality unfolds.

This is Simão, the aware architect.

// Engineer

A communicator and purveyor of the authentic. Jorge works on project design by doing the research and groundwork that underpins the construction, creating, as he does so, services and products with meaningful impact.

He is our “Service Engineer” and an evolving biobuilder!<br>His work has taken him from Luanda to Rio de Janeiro, and many other experiences in between. Whilst in Japan, he came to realise that aware construction was right for him and could be one way of leaving his mark on the world!

Father of 2 extraordinary boys, he loves travelling, new adventures, outdoor sports, people, laughing, dancing and diving into the unknown! He truly connects when breathing in icy waters, our superman engineer, Jorge, is always up for action.

Tiago Mendes

Tiago is an explorer of life and believes that architecture materialized in tall buildings has the potential to regenerate human ecosystems, giving them the capacity to better adapt to their users and the environment in which they are inserted.

He has some geek chops, likes Legos and is not afraid of computers. He believes that digital tools can help us build better buildings, both in their design and construction.

He is an architect by training, was a teacher of aspiring architects and today brings together the experience accumulated by developing projects in Portugal, Switzerland and Brazil.

In 2017, he began to explore photography as a means for poetic activism, addressing themes such as the relationship between humans and Nature, an increasingly significant theme in his life and in the architecture he pursues.

The hands of strategy and communication, brings with him the energy and creativity of his inner child, vibrating higher behind the man we see today.

With more than a decade making projects alive, he sees in each of them the opportunity to experience new challenges, own them and actually DO something meaningful today so we keep enjoying the tomorrow.

Fábio is a naturally curious human being and believes that the quality of the spaces we inhabit shapes our well-being. He discovered early on that work is a source of personal fulfillment and found in architecture the expression of his purpose.

He embraced the practice in 2020 and gained experience in developing projects of multiple scales, contexts and programs. A two-wheeled enthusiast, he recognizes that traveling the path is the best way to learn.

The arrival is just another starting point!

Marta Ferreira

Marta Ferreira

// Architect

Fascinated by the Design and Build method, Marta values ​​tacit knowledge and the process of participatory work with the community. A graduate of FAUP, her academic career was enriched by international experiences in Norway, Italy and Germany.

She was a member of the winning teams of the “Natural is the New Normal” competition (2023) and the “International Competition of Schools of Architecture and Urbanism”, part of the 14th International Architecture Biennial of São Paulo (2025).

António Sá

António Sá

António is a maker by nature — driven by a deep curiosity about how things come together.

He strongly believes that through architecture, human beings define their relationship with the environment and it's resources and he is committed to take part in the search of better solutions for the future.
He has worked in different studios across the Iberian Peninsula, he was involved in urban planning, public facilities, and housing projects — from concept to construction — gaining a broad and integrated view of the architect’s role.
In 2011, he co-founded mo.ca.–mobiliário de cartão, a cardboard furniture project that marked the beginning of a personal ongoing journey towards sustainable and conscious design.
A long-standing affection for descriptive geometry led him to teaching, where he shared this passion with others and discovered the beauty of both learning and sharing.

Ângela Rodrigues

An architect by training and a natural space organizer, she believes that spaces are living organisms capable of infecting the reality of each person who inhabits them. For Angela, architecture is her tool to make the world a better place.

She sees the exchange of ideas and experiences in the context of collaborative work as the key to creating human and conscious projects, thus defending interdisciplinarity as one of the pillars of her professional approach.

Her practice is the result of experiences and collaborations that have enriched her career, shaping the architect she is today.

She has within her a desire to know the world and the people who make it. She is a curious person who likes to know a little about everything and who considers that life, both personal and professional, is a continuous process of discovery.

Although separated by an ocean, we are strongly united in mission and at heart. This multidisciplinary team, which is a great source of inspiration and aware action, plays a hugely active role in the world of Bioconstruction and Permaculture Design.

Thanks to a powerful educational vision, oriented towards to socio-economic action, they have spent the last 15 years and more designing and building living spaces and solutions and technologies that engender and foster a more connected, aware and sustainable lifestyle. They have rescued and work ancestral techniques, which remind us of, and respond to, the needs of our Natural and Human condition.

Working alongside us on most of our projects and creations, they are a colossal plus and, together, we co-create high-impact solutions on different scales and with different technologies.

The spirit of the highlands is strong in Nuno, who is the soul and heart of this construction team, a friend with whom we are so happy to walk and learn.

Early in life, he began working in Trás-os-Montes, with his father and grandfather. He learned to build stone walls and apply the natural lime and clay plaster that decorates the Mirandese Plateau.
Continuously exploring and learning, he has fine-tuned his knowledge of natural construction over the last 25 years.
In 2000, he co-created Palombar, the Association for the Conservation of Nature and Rural Heritage.

Today, he is a grandmaster of building with a variety of techniques and is the leader of this team who inspires us and with whom we have shared so many great creations.

With over 40 years of experience, this company is possibly the best and most experienced builder of wooden houses in Portugal.

It shares a vision of a more sustainable and aware world and shows courage and willingness in taking on new challenges.

A force of nature when it comes to aware action, an example and one of our main inspirations in starting up BIOARCH, Ana is, in our hearts, a true godmother.

Through her highly active role as ambassador and President of the Central Earth Association, she helps to shed light on the constructional importance and potential of the Earth in Portugal.

She has visited India and much of the rest of the world. Her vast experience of working with the land and ecological systems mean that we always look forward with great enthusiasm to collaborating with her and exchanging experiences and knowledge.
